History
plus
One of the city's most beautiful movie theaters can be found just a few steps from Hermannplatz. The stylish 1950s ambience and the first-class film selection make Neues Off a very special place. After our first opening at Yorck Kreuzberg, Neues Off is the second cinema to join Yorck Kinogruppe in 1979. At this point, little was left of the former cinema mile that Hermannstraße. The theater had spent many years as an adult cinema. But with a new name, a new focus and some work on the building, it gains new momentum. The fact that it is now a movie theater in its original splendor is thanks to a comprehensive restoration in the late 1990s, during which it gained its name. Since then, we have continued to care for it so that its unique flair will remain with the Neukölln neighborhood for many years to come.

1919

First opening as a revue theater.

1926

The revue theater becomes a movie theater called Rixdorfer Lichtspiele.

1975

Four tough years as an adult cinema.

1979

Salvation is at hand: it becomes the second cinema to join the Yorck Kinogruppe and is given the new name Off.

1998

After an extensive restoration, the cinema reopens in all its glory and receives a fitting new name: Neues Off.

2021

In the second Covid-19 lockdown, the cinema gets a modern sound system, a new screen and a fresh coat of paint on the exterior.

2022

Neues Off is now equipped with a stunning 4K Christie CineLife projectior.
