Against their families' expectations, Agnes (Jessie Buckley) and Will (Paul Mescal) fall in love and start a family. Agnes is unconventional and deeply connected to nature. Vahid, an Azerbaijani auto mechanic, was once imprisoned by Iranian authorities. During his sentence, he was interrogated and tortured  blindfolded. One day, a man named Eghbal enters his workshop. His prosthetic leg creaks, and Vahid thinks he recognizes one of his former torturers. He kidnaps Eghbal to get his revenge, but soon doubts arise as to whether Eghbal really is the monster that Vahid suspects him to be.

It Was Just an Accident

Hungarian director Ildikó Enyedi is one of the most idiosyncratic voices in European auteur cinema. Her new film, which was screened in competition at Venice, won Luna Wedler the Mastroianni Award for best young discovery and became a critics' favorite, expanding her poetic universe. Three timelines run through the film, connected by the backdrop of the university campus in Marburg.
