The ARTE Sommerkino Kulturforum is our summer cinema, operating between the months of June and August. In partnership with Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.

History

It all starts in the summer months of 2002 and 2003. With barbecue grills and blankets and a magnificent view of the Berlin "skyline" at Potsdamer Platz, the most popular movies of the previous months can be enjoyed once again on beautiful evenings as part of the "Museum Film Festival". In the following years, the open-air cinema moved to the Museumsinsel, but returned to the Kulturforum in 2007 under the direction of the Yorck Group. Since then, the most beautiful films of the past months, original versions, previews and film series on the museum exhibitions are shown here every year, sometimes in the presence of the actors. There is no better way to connect summer and cinema.
