A Prussian artist's biography, a harrowing fate, an art journey to the landscape painter Carl Blechen: Portrait busts, drawings and a puppet theater by Steffen Mertens, draughtsman and sculptor, are created in front of a running camera. During the making of the film, we immerse ourselves in Carl Blechen's world, travel to the original locations in Italy and visit museums and collections. The film also explores Blechen's relationship with Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Johan Christian Clausen Dahl.
