Amir, of German-Arab descent, comes under police scrutiny after a suspected Islamist attack in Neukölln, in which his friend Yusuf is killed and Amir is suspected of being the perpetrator. To prove their innocence, Amir and Emma, a woman from Berlin, set off for Paris, where they uncover a right-wing extremist conspiracy. We follow the breathless story through swimming pools, cemeteries, parks—and repeatedly to the cinemas of Berlin and Paris.
