Snack bar owner Jens (Albrecht Schuch) falls in love with his neighbour Aischa (Lilith Stangenberg) over a nightly cigarette in the stairwell, while security guard Erik (Charly Hübner) develops feelings for young Marika (Irina Starshenbaum) on his routine tour of the hostel for foreigners. Cleaning lady Christa (Martina Gedeck) also seeks comfort at the end of her shift at the side of hairdresser Birgitt (Nastassja Kinski). Three stories, one common wish: a spark of love, a touch of affection and the feeling of security.
