Fide Struck was a working-class photographer, an employee, and, at times, unemployed. He took photographs in Berlin in the 1930scasually, with precision, and with wit. In 1941, he packed about 3,000 negatives into a wooden suitcase, which survived the war and an odyssey through postwar Germany. In 2015, Struck’s youngest son, Thomas, opened the case and began cataloging the collection.
