Lunchtime at The Grill in New York, a tourist trap that handles thousands of customers on a normal Friday like today. Money has disappeared from the till and all the employees are being questioned. Most of them are illegal immigrants. One of the cooks is Pedro, a young man from Mexico, a dreamer and troublemaker who is in love with Julia (Rooney Mara), an American waitress. When Pedro is accused of stealing the money, the situation escalates.
