New England 1970: Grumpy and universally disliked  teacher Paul Hunham remains at school to supervise students unable to journey home. After a few days, only one student holdover remains: Angus, a talented but troubeled student. Joining Paul and Angus is head cook Mary. A unusual Christmas-family is formed.
