Iraq in the 1990s. While Saddam Hussein celebrates his birthday nationwide, 9-year-old Lamia draws a dreaded lot at her school: she has to bake the cake for the local celebrations. An almost impossible task, as there is a food shortage in the country. With only two days to spare, the help of her classmate Saeed, and accompanied by her rooster Hindi, she sets out in search of ingredients.
