Fide Struck’s works complement the photographic canon of 1930s Berlin and convey how the political intrudes on the private sphere. Following the successful exhibition at the Willy Brandt House, his photographic legacy is now on the big screen – featuring dramatic audio pieces by Ulrich Tukur and Eva Mattes, presented by Thomas Struck.

About

Fide Struck was a working-class photographer, an employee, and, at times, unemployed. He took photographs in Berlin in the 1930scasually, with precision, and with wit. In 1941, he packed about 3,000 negatives into a wooden suitcase, which survived the war and an odyssey through postwar Germany. In 2015, Struck’s youngest son, Thomas, opened the case and began cataloging the collection.
