Steven Spielberg has been making films for over 50 years and is one of the most versatile directors: he has directed adventure films, historical dramas, thrillers, comedies, and films for children and families. He has been nominated for an Oscar a total of 20 times and has won twice. In addition, he received the Irving J. Thalberg Award and—perhaps less well known—the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1998. President Roman Herzog honored Spielberg with the words: “You are an artist who conjures up images that linger in people’s minds and become part of their thinking and their worldview.” In 2023, he received the Golden Honorary Bear at the Berlinale.
In December, Spielberg will turn 80, and this summer, his 35th feature film DISCLOSURE DAY will hit theaters. He hopes it won’t be his last. To mark the occasion, we’re showing a small selection of his films.
