In GUTS, two women embark on a 20,000-kilometer off-road surfari from Biarritz, France, to Guinea-Bissau—with nothing more in their luggage than an old Jeep, four surfboards, and a mission: to capture the stories of inspiring women who are redefining their place in society throughout Northwest Africa. In three chapters structured around the phases of the moon, HER WAVE follows Germany’s big-wave surfer Lena Kemna through her second season in Nazaré.
