Would you know how to draw a clitoris? If not, you're not alone. Far too little is known about the female pleasure organ. But in the 19th century, people still knew: the clitoris is at least as large as the penis, or rather, the average penis is even slightly smaller than the clitoris. It has an externally visible glans—and four legs filled with erectile tissue. After that, knowledge about the potent female orgasm organ was ignored for decades, with far-reaching consequences for the perception of female pleasure. But women don't want less sex than men, they often just don't want the kind that is offered to them. It is not the penis and vagina that are corresponding organs, as our penetration-fixated culture would have us believe, but the penis and clitoris: they develop from the same embryonic structures.
