"Mit Blick auf Mexiko" (With a View to Mexico) is a series of contemporary Mexican films presented, with German subtitles. Organized by the Mexican Consulate and supported by Mexico's Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, this cultural initiative aims to bring quality Mexican cinema to German-speaking audiences.   The program features four critically acclaimed films spanning different genres and themes that showcase the diversity of contemporary Mexican filmmaking: "A un millón de millas" (2023) directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella, "Huesera" (2022) by Michelle Garza Cervera, "Cosas imposibles" (2021) by Ernesto Contreras, and "Corazón de Mezquite" (2019) by Ana Laura Calderón.   Each film represents the work of accomplished Mexican directors whose works have been recognized at prestigious international film festivals including Toronto, Sundance, and Berlinale. The selection offers German audiences access to stories ranging from inspirational biographies to horror, from unlikely friendships to challenges within indigenous communities, providing a window into contemporary Mexican society and culture through the lens of its talented filmmakers.
