A powerful documentary that uses interviews with contemporary witnesses to shed light on what remains unsaid in many German families. The statements are painfully honest, sometimes disturbing, but also touching, equally marked by moral conflict, repressed feelings of guilt, trauma, and grief. Jewish survivors also share their stories, shedding light on the blind spots that remain in the perspective of the majority society at that time. The combination of both perspectives reveals unexpected and shocking insights.
Followed by a panel discussion with the directors and guests Marina Chernivsky, Alexandra Senfft, Nastja Kononowa und Bernward Dörner. Moderated by Julia Weigelt.
