New York in the early 1990s. The aspiring stockbroker Jordan Belfort founds the brokerage firm "Stratton Oakmont" in his early 20s, with which he quickly rises to become a multi-millionaire. His new nickname is "Wolf of Wall Street". With his wealth he finances a dissolute lifestyle characterised by alcohol, drugs, sex and decadence. Driven by insatiable greed, he and his "wolf gang" get involved in illegal business. This soon attracts the attention of the law.
