Even before Auschwitz, the Nazis established their first extermination camp in the occupied Polish village of Chełmno nad Nerem. This camp was called Kulmhof. Here, the SS – using mobile gas chambers developed in Berlin – tested mass murder on an industrial scale. THE QUIET VILLAGE, narrated by Liev Schreiber, is a harrowing exploration of memories, eyewitness accounts, and an often-overlooked chapter of the Holocaust. With an introduction by Uwe Neumärker, director of the Foundation for the Murdered Jews of Europe, as well as a welcome address by director Ashton Gleckman.
