Literatur LIVE: Iris Berben liest Weihnachten mit Charles Dickens
Audiobook Premiere: “Geschichten zum Fest” by Charles Dickens
Thanks to his classic "A Christmas Carol", Charles Dickens is inextricably linked to Christmas like no other.
But the author’s Christmas world isn’t populated solely by the grumpy Scrooge: In his festive tales, he takes us to lavishly set tables, lively parties, winter carriage rides, and mischievous elves. These stories—vibrant and atmospheric, melancholic and witty—time and again show that the most important thing about Christmas is the people with whom we celebrate it.
Charles Dickens (1812–1870) is one of the most significant English writers. In his novels, he criticized the social ills of his time and created incomparable stories that are now classics of world literature.
Iris Berben, born in Detmold in 1950, is one of Germany’s most successful actresses and audiobook narrators. She has been honored with the Bambi, the Golden Camera, and the Grimme Prize for her acting achievements, and in 2003 she was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her commitment to combating anti-Semitism and racism.
