But the author’s Christmas world isn’t populated solely by the grumpy Scrooge: In his festive tales, he takes us to lavishly set tables, lively parties, winter carriage rides, and mischievous elves. These stories—vibrant and atmospheric, melancholic and witty—time and again show that the most important thing about Christmas is the people with whom we celebrate it.
