Literatur Live: Mareike Fallwickl
Mareike Fallwickl presents her new book “Haltet euch fest”
A new story that we desperately need.
Luzia grows up in a loving household that serves as a refuge for a diverse group of people. In the house, various forms of love—queer, platonic, and many others—as well as shared parenting are practiced. Later, as an adult, Luzia fights against patriarchal structures as a theater director and tries to bring about positive change. Her friend Marle, whom she has known since childhood, feels a strong desire to have children in her early forties and decides to take an unconventional path away from dating and relationships with men. In the house, she finds great solidarity. But suddenly, after a devastating storm, everything this chosen family has built together over decades seems threatened. What does it take for such a community to survive in times like these?
This powerful book challenges our beliefs about friendship and romance and courageously describes the utopia we wish for our lives.
Mareike Fallwickl made her debut in 2018 with *Dark Green, Almost Black*, followed in 2019 by *The Light Is Much Brighter Here*. *The Anger That Remains* (2022) was a huge success with critics and audiences alike, was staged at the Salzburg Festival, and is being adapted for the big screen. And Alle so still (2024) made it into the top 10 of the Spiegel bestseller list and is also being staged at various theaters. Mareike Fallwickl lives in the Salzburg region and is committed to promoting literature both online and offline, with a focus on female and diverse narrative voices.
