A man walks into a bar and signs up for an open mic to save the $15 cover charge. This is how Alex stumbles into the New York comedy scene, almost by accident. He and his ex-wife Tess have ended their marriage amicably and share custody of their sons. While Alex is breaking new ground, Tess is confronted with the sacrifices she made for family life.
